The partitive’s ending can be -a/ä, -ta/tä or -tta/ttä. You can find the explanations of which ending to use on our page about the partitive singular. Please also read about vowel harmony before doing this exercise! It will help you decide whether to use -a or -ä.
The exercise above contains the following word types:
- Words ending in a single vowel -a, -ä, -o, -u, -y, -ö: add -a/ä
- Words ending in -i: add -a/ä (this exercise only contains this type)
- Words ending in -e: add -tta/ttä
- Words ending in two vowels: add -ta/tä
- Words ending in -nen: replace -nen with -sta/stä
- Words ending in a consonant: add -ta/tä
- Remember vowel harmony!

“Minulla on auto” means “I have a car”. When we make this sentence negative, we need the partitive case: “Minulla ei ole autoa”.
