Household Problems - Finnish Vocabulary

It’s very useful to be able to talk about household problems (kodin ongelmat) in Finnish. You never know what household appliance will break or which of the following problems you might run into. In this article, you can find some useful phrases to help you on your way when sorting out household problems.

This is important vocabulary if you’re going to participate in the YKI-test, because there are often parts of the test that are related to household problems.

1. Apartment building problems

Finnish	English
Pihan roskikset ovat täynnä.	The yard’s garbage bins are full.
Talon pihalla on tosi liukasta.	It’s really slippery at the house’s yard.
Rappukäytävässä on savua.	There’s smoke in the stairwell.
Hissi on jumissa.	The elevator is stuck.

3. Door Problems

7. Tap and Drain Problems

11. Smell and Air Problems

Hajut eivät poistu asunnosta.	Odors won’t leave the apartment.
