In more abstract situations, tästä can refer to the topic or situation that we’re currently discussing rather than a location. Most of the time, the mistä-form is used because the verb has a rection that requires mistä: puhua mistä, varoittaa mistä, pitää mistä.

Tähän refers to a movement or action towards an area in close proximity. Come here: towards me! While tässä often appears on its own in a sentence, tähän is more commonly accompanied by a noun. As such, tähän is used more as the demonstrative pronoun it is and less as an adverb.

Tähän can refer to a movement or action towards an area in close proximity. In all these situations, we can add paikkaan after the tähän: Jään tähän paikkaan. “In this place” Laita sohva tähän paikkaan. “On this spot”.

Most of the time, the mihin-form is used because the verb has a rection that requires mihin: sekaantua mihin, joutua mihin, luottaa mihin.
